Change in SDM’s brand portfolio

sdmlogo2SDM’s primary focus is to align its offering with the needs of its customers and to remain a leader in the South African eyewear market. To this end, a decision has been taken to part ways with Kering (Gucci, Puma, Saint Laurent), after an association of three years.

SDM will continue to sell the Kering brands in South Africa until the end of 2018 and will honour all warranty claims on products sold by SDM. During the transition out of the Kering brands over the next six months, SDM can assure customers there will be continued support of the Kering brands.

Currently SDM’s main alignment is with Marcolin and more recently with Thelios, a new joint venture between Marcolin and Louis Vuitton Moët Hennessy (LVMH). Marcolin supplies SDM with Tom Ford, Guess, Timberland, Swarovski and Skechers eyewear. LVMH is a world leader in luxury goods and comprises over seventy exceptional Fashion Houses, producing high quality products. The first collection from Thelios is the Celine range, which SDM launched in March of this year.  With brands like Tag Heuer, Christian Dior, Marc Jacobs and many others in the LVMH group, it is clear that Thelios will be a force to be reckoned with in the global eyewear market of the future.

SDM has enjoyed an excellent, long-standing relationship with Marcolin. It is felt that a closer alignment with Marcolin will afford the opportunity to be even more appealing at all levels, to the optometric customer base in South Africa.

SDM will also continue the distribution of all other brands in the current portfolio (INVU, POLO, Ted Baker).

Selwyn Moss(MD) and the SDM Team look forward to offering exciting brands in the future as they continue to focus on the needs of the South African market.
